George West Furches

George West Furches, 87, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014, at his home.

George was born in Winston-Salem on February 2, 1927 to Stephen Lewis Furches and Lydia Amanda West Furches. He was retired from Amarr Co. and Orkin, Inc. He married Mildred Miller on June 4, 1949, who survives of the home. He had one son, Randal West Furches and wife Julie of Greensboro and also had a daughter, Ann Elizabeth Furches, who passed away at birth. George is also survived by grandson, Alexander West Furches and wife Katie of Nashville, TN; two granddaughters, Jessa and Gwynne Furches of Greensboro; sister Katherine Furches Rumley of Winston-Salem; and brothers, William Richard Furches and wife Betty of Fredricksburg, VA and James J. Furches of Winston-Salem. He was predeceased by his sister, Laura Elizabeth Furches Dennis and brother, Stephen Lewis Furches, Jr.

George was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church, where the body will lie in state from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Monday, December 8, 2014. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow the service in the church graveyard. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial.
