George Wilson Nifong, 72, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at his home in Oak Island, North Carolina, after a six month battle with cancer. George was born to Floyd Wilson Nifong and Maude Caudill Nifong. He grew up in the South Fork community, and graduated from Southwest High School in 1962. After four years of service in the Air Force, he married Lynn Eddinger on June 21, 1964. George retired from Tyco Electronics (AMP Inc.). George and his wife Lynn moved to their home in Oak Island, NC in 2004. They enjoyed many visits from friends, family, and especially their grandchildren. He leaves behind his wife, a daughter Angie Jenkins (Sam), a son Grant Nifong, six grandchildren: Dakota, Paton, and Carson Jenkins; Laramie, Elliott, and Lexie Nifong, along with many loving family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, grandson Dalton Jenkins, and two sons Greg and Chad. A celebration of life will be held at Griffith Baptist Church on Saturday, November 5th at 4:30 P.M. officiated by Reverend Tony Brown. Visitation will follow in the fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Griffith Baptist Church.
