George Salmons

George Clark Salmons was born June 7, 1926 in Yadkin County to Evella and George Salmons. He went to abide in his heavenly mansion on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Surviving Mr. Salmons are his children, Debra Salmons Vernon, Mark Salmons, and James "Fish" Salmons. He is also survived by two special people, son-in-law Mark Vernon and daughter-in-law Patty Salmons. George was blessed with two granddaughters, Vila Fleming and husband Sam Fleming, as well as Jena Salmons and fiancé Chris Thomas. His other blessings include four great-grandchildren: Riley Fleming, Finn Fleming, Josie Salmons, and James Salmons. George's two sisters, Esterline Hoots age 96 and Vaudeline Doss age 94 reside in Yadkinville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Myers Salmons; parents; four brothers; and one sister. George celebrated his 92nd birthday on Thursday, June 7th. Mr. Salmons was a World War Two veteran and worked at Foster and Hailey for 45 years. He cofounded the Pioneer Village Campground in Shoals, North Carolina. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 18, at Crestview Memorial Park with Pastor James T. Webb, Jr. officiating. There will be no formal visitation. The family wishes to express their sincere thanksgiving to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Their kindness, compassion and medical assistance helped to make our father's transition to his heavenly home a peaceful and reverent one.
