George Sudduth White, 90, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. George was born on September 10, 1932, in Memphis, TN, to the late Fred Myerle and Emma Sudduth White. He met Jeanne Lynch, the love of his life, at Central High School in Memphis. Following a tour in the US Army, stationed in South Korea from 1953-1955, he returned to marry Jeanne in 1955. He earned a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. George and Jeanne then moved to Winston-Salem in 1958 where he worked for Western Electric until his retirement in 1990. During his career at Western Electric, George worked on the Nike missile program, emerging computer technology and he holds several patents for medical and electrical equipment.

He and Jeanne were longtime members of Highland Presbyterian and most recently Messiah Moravian church. Together they were dedicated members of the Winston-Salem Dog Training Club. He especially loved working with his therapy dog, Murphy. George enjoyed basket weaving with their good friends at “Our House”. He also enjoyed wood craving and puttering in his workshop. He continued as an active member of the Western Electric Pioneers and in many volunteer activities throughout the community.

George lost Jeanne in 2013 after 58 years of marriage. He is survived by his two daughters, Pattie Lamb (Bob deceased 2004), and Nancy Drauszewski, and son-in-law George; and three grandchildren, Rebecca Lamb, Matthew Drauszewski (Britney) and Emma Drauszewski (Mat Jones).

A celebration of George’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis or a charity of your choosing.
