Gerald Johnson

YADKINVILLE – Gerald Craven Johnson, 58, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Forsyth Medical Center. Gerald was born on November 5, 1963 in Guilford County to Henry and Geraldine Long Johnson. He was a 10-year Veteran of the US Marine Corps Reserves. Gerald was a member of The Summit Church in Kernersville and was previously active with the Beyond Imagination Ministry in Raleigh. Gerald found farming to be therapeutic, loved raising cattle, and was in the beginning stages of raising bison. He also loved to ride motorcycles, a passion he shared with friends and family. He always put family first and was available for anyone at the drop of a hat – if he didn’t know how to fix the situation at hand, he was no stranger to Google and YouTube. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, often encouraging and participating in rambunctious behavior with them. He had a unique way of using sarcasm and his great sense of humor to get him out of unpleasant situations.

Gerald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Nate & Grace Johnson; and grandfather, Parran Long.

Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Donna Johnson; three sons, William Holt (Elizabeth), Everette Johnson (Molly), and Zachary Johnson (Summer); one daughter, Jessica Elliott (Randall); six grandchildren, Karleigh and Maggie Jayne Holt, Stella Johnson, Anna, Mack and Luke Elliott; his parents, Henry and Geraldine Johnson; his grandmother, Neva Long; one sister, Rhonda Owens; two brothers, Faron Johnson and Nathan Johnson (Katie); and many loving nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022 at The Summit Church with Pastors Paul Fulton, Jonathan Robbins and Ike Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Summit Church, 4440 High Point Rd, Kernersville, NC 27284 (www.thesummitchurch.net) or Beyond Imagination Ministry, 311 New Bern Ave, Raleigh, NC 27601 (www.beyondimagination.org)
