Gerald White

Mr. Gerald Harding White, 95, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018. He was born March 13, 1923 in Stokes County to the late Justin Harley White and Mary Boles White. He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy during World War II and the Army during the Korean Conflict. After his tenure in the military, Mr. White became a member of the Destroyer Division 38 Association. He was a faithful member of Germanton Baptist Church for 62 years. Mr. White enjoyed meeting with his breakfast group at the McDonald's in Stanleyville six days a week. In addition to his parents, He is preceded in death by two sisters, Harriet Fansler (Lonnie) and Eileene Sidden (Bill). Mr. White is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Diana McBride White; three sons: Michael (Donalee), Kenneth (Jovelyn) and Kevin White (Jackalyn); three grandchildren: Justin, Charles, Diana; one brother, Jeff White (Barbara); and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 AM Friday, August 24, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Rev. Robert Lattimore and Rev. Bill Messer officiating. Burial will follow at Germanton Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, August 23 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Germanton Baptist Church, 1120 Willow Street, Germanton, NC 27019 and Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
