Geraldine Gouge Cansler

Geraldine (Gerri) Cansler, 92 of Winston-Salem, NC was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 21, 2023.  

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Grace Baptist Church, Josh Harvey officiating.  Visitation will be held at 11:00 am prior to the service.    The burial will immediately follow at Parklawn Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hayworth Miller of Winston-Salem. 

Gerri was born in Roan Mountain, Tennessee on September 3, 1931.  She grew up in Johnson City, Tennessee and graduated from Happy Valley High School.  She married the love of her life (John Cansler) on November 14, 1952.  Eventually the young couple moved to Winston-Salem, NC.  They were married for 68 years before he was called home to be with the Lord in September 2020.

Daughter, Sherri Gordon with husband Robert
Grandson, Marc McCann with wife Nicole, child Corbin
Granddaughter, Elisabeth Slate with husband Josh, children Ava and Levi
Granddaughter, Rebekah McGee, child Alex                                              
Grandson, Joshua Cansler with wife Riki, children Raelyn and Micah
Grandson, Joseph Cansler

She is preceded in death by her husband John Cansler, parents Homer and Dovie Gouge, sisters Shirley, Edna and Norma, brother Don and great-grandson Aven Robert.
