Gertie Mae Allen

Mrs. Gertie Mae Priddy Allen, 88, of Winston Salem passed away Friday, December 11, 2015, at Salemtowne Moravian Home. She was born on October 8, 1927 in Stokes County to the late Nathaniel Otis and Nellie Thelma Mabe Priddy. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Helen Marie Smith Chapter of The Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy P. Simmons. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years Roger L. Allen; one daughter; Phyllis Grubbs (Perry) of Lyman, S.C.; two sons Roger L. Allen, Jr., (Janie) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, and Glen Allen (Brenda) of Concord, N.C. eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, three sisters; Virginia P. Hall; Linda P. Higgins and Pamela P. Floyd all of Winston-Salem, NC; one brother, Curtis Priddy of Walnut Cove, NC. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 4:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr., Charlotte, NC, 28215.
