Gilbert Hobson

WINSTON SALEM – Gilbert Troy Hobson, 86, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center. Gilbert was born on March 18, 1932 in Yadkin County to William Henry and Leathia Michaels Hobson. He retired from High Point Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. In his spare time, he was a master carpenter and loved building things to give to others.

In addition to his parents, Gilbert was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Hobson; and nine brothers and sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Gilbert Troy “Sonny” Hobson, Jr. (Doris), and Anthony Todd Hobson (Patrice); one daughter, Robin Hobson (Mark Hill); Mother-in-law, Olivia Lee Shores of the home; two grandsons, David Hobson (Sonya), and Anthony Todd Hobson, Jr; two granddaughters, Liea Hobson, and Miranda Hobson; two close great grandchildren, Makayla and Mark Hobson, of Walkertown, along with several other special great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Pastor Bill Little officiating. There will be a private family viewing 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
