Gladys Matthews

Mrs. Gladys Irene Reid Matthews, 89 of Mocksville, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born November 24, 1927 in Forsyth County to the late Graham Edgar Reid, Sr. and Blanche Angel Reid. Mrs. Matthews had retired from Poindexter Lumber Company with 29 years of service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Evan Matthews, one son, Royce Matthews and one daughter, Sandy Matthews Sink. Surviving are one daughter, Mitzi M. Lewis (Bo) of Mocksville; two sons, Robin "Byrd" Matthews of Mocksville and Robert "Tony" Matthews (Mary) of Lewisville; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and one brother, Graham Reid, Jr. of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
