Gladys Snyder Paschal

WINSTON SALEM – Gladys Snyder Paschal, 91, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 at her home. Gladys was born on February 19, 1932 in Forsyth County to Hosea and Mozelle Pope Snyder. She retired from Winston-Salem / Forsyth County Schools with over 32 years of service. Gladys was an active member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, where she loved singing in the choir and was faithful to the ministries and mission of the church.  She loved sewing, cooking and doing crafts, with dolls and doll clothing being among her favorites. These interests made her especially fond of the United Methodist Women Church bazaars, where she could share her talents with others. Gladys also loved square dancing with her late husband, Richard. She had a kind, gentle spirit and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her daily living and actions were great examples of faith to her family.

In addition to her parents, Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Paschal; one sister, Elsie Rushing; and one brother, Aubrey Snyder.

Surviving are her daughter, Angela Pope (Michael); her son, Anthony Paschal; three grandchildren, Leslie Kirkman (Eric), Adam Paschal, and Anna Simmering (Paul); 4 great grandchildren, Ethan, Colin, Whitney and Isaiah; two brothers, Arnold Snyder, and Leon Snyder; and one sister, Erline Shelton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Hester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m.
