Glenda Gantt

Mrs. Glenda Ann Barker Gantt, 73, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at her home.  She was born in Surry County on July 8, 1945 to the late William James Barker and Ona McMillian Barker.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gantt was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Gantt.  She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Wood Potts (Jeff); son, James Daniel Wood (Christy); nine grandchildren: Bradley Potts (Courtney), Cayce Potts, Katie Wood Shoemaker (Michael), Brett Wayne Potts, William Thomas Wood, Olevia Rachel Caudle (Christian), Kristen Paige Wood, Joseph Matthew Wood, Nicholas Lee Wood; two great-grandchildren, Rhshawn Lee Wolfe and McKinley Nicole Potts; special cousin, Maudie Ramsey; step-daughter, Connie Lee Gantt; step-grandson, Stone Andrew Messcher; and two feline companions, Abby and Callie.  A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Friday, November 30, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Minister Jim Coviello officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 9:00 PM Thursday, November 29, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 1355 Peachtree Street NE, Suite 600, Atlanta, GA 30309.
