Mrs. Glenda Bray Lackey, 86, of Winston-Salem, died on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after a short illness.
Born in Jefferson, Georgia, to Luther Preston Bray and Martha “Inez” Wilkes, she was raised in Lexington, NC, with her family, before moving to Winston-Salem. There she attended Gray High School, graduating in 1958.
She married Arden Lackey on January 7, 1967, and spent her time assisting in his photography career, serving their church, and raising their daughter, Laura.
Mrs. Lackey was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband, Arden, of Winston-Salem, daughter, Laura Carson, of Boone, and two granddaughters, Katelyn Carson, of Boone, and Abby Carson, of Oak Island.
Mrs. Lackey will be remembered for her strong faith, love for her family, her stylish and often handmade outfits, and her oyster stew that caught Arden’s heart.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at St. John's Lutheran Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2415 Silas Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
