Glenn Alvis Pilcher

Glenn Alvis Pilcher of Clemmons, North Carolina peacefully passed away on July 23, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 1, 1940 to Broughton and Elizabeth Pilcher, he was a lifelong resident of the area. A graduate of Western Carolina University, Mr. Pilcher dedicated three decades to educating young minds. His teaching career spanned from Old Richmond School to Northwest Junior High, culminating at Mt. Tabor High School. A devoted community member, Mr. Pilcher served as President of the Winston-Salem Shrine Club and held a 50-year membership in the Masonic Lodge. His spiritual journey led him to Clemmons Moravian Church where he faithfully served as an Elder, Diener, and Usher. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice of 45 years, daughters, Ellen Grooms and Lori Bennett; grandchildren, Nathan Lyon, Allison Lyon, Gabrielle (Matthew) Holland, and Carigan Bennett. Mr. Pilcher is also survived by his sister, Judy (Mike) Williard and niece, Cameron (John) Hogg, and two grand nephews, Peter and Silas Hogg. Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Pilcher. A graveside service will be held at Forsyth Memorial Park on Saturday July 27 at 12:00 noon. Pastor Christopher C. Thore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clemmons Moravian Church or the Shriners Children's Hospital. The family is served by Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kinderton Chapel.
