Glenn Burg Simmons

Mr. Glenn Burg Simmons, 86, passed away Monday, December 30, 2013 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. He was born in Surry Co. on October 10, 1927 the son of the late Elzavan Simmons and Sophronia Jessup Simmons. Glenn was a lifelong member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church and loved his church dearly. He had many years of Sunday School perfect attendance and rang the bell at the start of services. Glenn loved his family and going to church. He also loved to eat. Glenn never met a stranger and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his three sisters, Eunice Cook, Irene Adams and Ethelene Wilson and his two brothers, Hubert Simmons and Rommie Simmons. He is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his extended family members. Funeral services for Glenn will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Jessup Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Clement and Rev. Doug Brinkley officiating. Burial will follow in Simmons Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 prior to the service at Jessup Grove Baptist Church and at other times at the home of Evalina Taylor. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to; Evalina Taylor for the care of Simmons Family Cemetery, 157 Jessup Grove Church Rd., Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. The family would like to thank the staff of Central Continuing Care for the love and care shown to the Simmons family and especially to Glenn.
