Grace Hawkins Atkins

Mrs. Grace Hawkins Atkins, 80, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born December 24, 1931 in McDowell County to Smiley Bruce and Louise Reid Hawkins. Mrs. Atkins was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being around people and serving as a greeter She was retired from MARC with 25 years of service.. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Marvin Atkins, and a son, Steve. Surviving are three daughters, Sharyn A. Robbins (Larry) of Conyers, Ga., Pam Mitchell (Robert), Kathy Atkins, all of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Pat Atkins of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Brad, Bethany, Allison, Brittany, Austin and Brianna; eleven great grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruth Dues of Butte, Montana and Sue Ramos of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Gary Byrum and the Rev. G. Thomas Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
