Grace Merritt Everhart

Mrs. Grace Merritt Everhart, 88, of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born May 15, 1926 in Stokes County to Walter and Bessie Priddy Merritt. Mrs. Everhart was a member of Samaritan Baptist Church and was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 31 years of service. She loved working in her yard with her flowers and enjoyed reading her Bible. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis G. Everhart, Sr; a sister, Ina Aldridge; and five brothers, Harvey, Fred, Herbert, Hubert, and Dennis. Surviving are one son, Francis G. Everhart, Jr. of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Timothy Wade Everhart and Francis G. Everhart III; two great grandchildren, T.J. Everhart and Jerod Everhart; one brother, Shirley Merritt of King; one sister, Mozelle Stewart of Rural Hall; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
