WINSTON SALEM -- Mrs. Gracie Mae Carter Kiger, 82, passed away at her home Friday, February 14, 2014 surrounded by her family. Gracie was born on June 28, 1931 in Stokes County to Caleb Thomas and Ada Elizabeth Stephens Carter. She had a strong Christian faith and was a devoted member of Glenn View Baptist Church. Gracie retired from Integon Insurance as an Accounting Executive. Her love for family was apparent as she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Gracie was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph T. Kiger, Sr.; one son, Mark Stephen Kiger; one daughter, Phyllis Elaine Kiger Hewett; and three sisters, Nina, Rachel and Margaret.

Surviving are her son, Ralph Kiger, Jr. (wife, Janet); four grandchildren, Amber Hill, Amy Hewett, April Pope and Natalie Kiger; six great grandchildren, Karleigh, Kurtis, Summer, Hannah, Kaylee, Hayden; and her great great grandson, Nolan; and two brothers, Hassel and Wayne Carter.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Glenn View Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, February 17, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.

Memorials may be made to Glenn View Baptist Church, 4275 Glenn High Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Shelley Stropparo for her friendship and loving care of Gracie over the past three years.
