Grady Calvin Sink

KERNERSVILLE -- Grady Calvin Sink, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his family. Grady was born in Forsyth County on August 5, 1924 to Everett Alonzo and Emma Jane Leonard Sink. Grady was a veteran of the US Army serving as a First Lieutenant in Europe during WWII. He was honored to serve his country as a member of the 563rd AAA Battalion and received numerous military recognitions during his service, also receiving the Order of the Longleaf Pine Award. Grady retired after 31 years from Western Electric and was a long time member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Grady was preceded in death by his wife, Allene 'Pat' Tally Sink; and two brothers, Raymond and Stamey Sink. Surviving are two sons, Keith Sink and Kent Sink (wife, Lisa); three granddaughters, Megan, Hayley and Hannah Sink; many loving nieces and nephews from the Sink and Tally families; and extended family in Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico, Lynette Romero Jordan and Larnell Sando and their families. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at church in the Brian Ray Holland Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to Ronald McDonald House, 419 South Hawthorne Rd.
