Mr. Graham McNair Petree, 83, passed away Friday, July 22, 2022, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born December 22, 1938, in Forsyth County to the late Harry Graham Petree, Jr. and Mary Cecil Shorpshire Petree. Graham attended Northwest High School. After graduating high school, Graham joined the Marines and did his basic training at Paris Island, SC. After basic training, he was assigned to the security detail as a guard at the American Embassy in Italy. After completing his service with an honorable discharge, he went to work for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for a number of years. After leaving Reynolds, he joined his brother-in-law as a partner in private business. Graham later went to work for Chesapeake Storage Co., where he retired. Graham was a member of Rural Hall Christian Church. He had many hobbies, especially working with wood. He won many blue ribbons and awards for his mastery of making bowls. Graham also enjoyed gardening and giving items away to friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, Graham was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah P. Tidwell; a niece, Stephanie Ashburn; and a nephew, Michael Brian Tidwell. He is survived by a son; Clint McNair Petree, a sister; Adelaide P. Ashburn (Frank), and two nephews; Stan Ashburn (Jana) of Dallas TX, and Jerry M. Tidwell Jr. (Betsey), of Tampa FLA, and a stepdaughter; Stephanie P. Boswell (Lige) of Winston Salem. A graveside service will be held at the Rural Hall Memorial Park at 11:00 AM Wednesday July 27, 2022, with Wesley McCarter, Dr. of ministry officiating. The family will receive friends and loved ones following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rural Hall Christian Church P.O.
