Mr. Gregory “Greg” Vaughn Marshall, 66, of Mocksville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 10, 2025, leaving behind one of the most beautiful sunrises you could imagine - a fitting farewell for a man who brought so much light into the lives of others. Greg was born October 20, 1958, in Forsyth County to Lawrence Ray Marshall and Joyce Brown Marshall.
He adored his wife, Susan Whicker Marshall, and was endlessly proud of his children, Megan and Shane Woodall, and Matthew and Liah Marshall, and his two grandchildren, Presley and Hank Woodall. He also leaves behind his mother, Joyce Marshall Cary, and his brother, Mike Marshall.
Anyone who knew Greg understood that he was a man with a no-nonsense exterior, but behind that was a man with a big heart who cared deeply for those around him. Greg had an impact on many people’s lives. If he stood in your corner, you knew it. And if he gave you a hard time, it probably meant he liked you.
Greg was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, though he was known to spend more time watching than hunting. He also enjoyed fishing with those around him, taking regular trips with his friends and family, especially for Thanksgiving.
Greg never wanted to be the center of attention, but because of his kindness, humor, and big heart, he will be in the hearts of everyone who knew him. His memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love shared, and the way he made everyone feel like family.
The family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Morris Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Jeff Coppley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 105 N. Crutchfield St., Unit 2, Dobson, NC 27017.
