Harold Eugene 'Sonny' Amos

WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. Harold Eugene ""Sonny"" Amos, 61, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday July 23, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Amos was born on December 30, 1951 in Forsyth County, NC to Carl Eugene Amos and Annie Carlene Tuttle Amos. Harold retired from Champion Industries after 25 years of service. He was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and volunteered for both the Contact Help Line and Second Harvest Food Bank. Sonny was an avid fan of NASCAR, Duke University and the Dallas Cowboys. Preceding Mr. Amos in death were his parents. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Sloan Amos of the home; one daughter, Devan Amos of Winston-Salem; sister-in-law, Kathy Sloan Bass of Winston-Salem; brother-in-law, David V. Sloan of Ft. Knox, Kentucky; several nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Amos will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Pastor Kent Hogan and Pastor Tim White officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Dr., Triangle, VA 22172 or the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
