Harriet Pierpoint Bos “Tattie”, went to gambol in the waves of heaven on February 19th, 2026.
Tattie was the daughter of the late Powell and Margaret Pierpoint. She will be remembered by many as a lively youngster, growing up in New York City and attending first The Chapin and then Ethel Walker Schools.
Her father Powell, an enthusiastic artist in his own right, instilled a passion for art and history which led her to explore libraries, cities and museums around the world.
Tattie applied herself as an undergraduate at UNC Chapel Hill and earned an MA in the History of Art at Tulane University. She held leadership positions at the Gallier and Hermann-Grima historic houses in New Orleans, LA and could also frequently be found at the Audubon Zoo with her children. After moving to Charlotte, NC she served on the Historic Landmarks Commission and supported the inauguration of the Beckler Museum.
Her diligence, curiosity and character often compelled her to support broader social themes. She was one who drew herself up and into action when necessary. Tattie was a skilled gardener and explored photography and needlepointing, always finding a way to express her love for her family as she learned new things. She created beautiful Christmas stockings for her children and grandchildren that will be cherished for many years to come.
Throughout her life, Tattie and her family were drawn to as much as buoyed by the tides of Madison, CT. Six generations of her family found Madison to be an environment that was serene and wonderfully comfortable. Discovering sea glass on the beach was always a subtle delight as much as corn in-season, long walks with loved ones and beautiful sunsets.
Tattie’s friends and family were always the center of her world as it evolved over time. Her relationships remind us to cherish those we hold dear while, at the same time, keeping in mind that new and meaningful connections exist wherever we may be. She was a curator by profession. In her personal life, however, she was a cultivator.
Tattie became known as Mimi to her grandchildren and children. As a grandmother, Mimi was unparalleled about her interest in crafts/games/recipes and silliness.
Mimi and her spirit of kindness, love and generosity remain in her children Pier, Abbie and Evan and her grandchildren Madilyn, Powell, George, Penelope, Lucy, Harriet, Reynolds and Kate.
She left us all bobbing peacefully and confidently in her wake ready for what awaits us. She will forever remind us (with a smile) to be curious, creative, thoughtful and kind and to find peace with the understanding that Amor vincit omnia.
A private service will be held by the family and memorials can be sent to St Paul's Episcopal Church at https://www.stpaulsws.org/stewardship/donate.
