Harry Phillip Knabb of Winston-Salem passed away peacefully at his home on June 29th, 2024. Born on August 9th, 1947, in New York, New York, Harry was the son of Betty and Harry Knabb. Harry spent the majority of his childhood and early adulthood growing up in East Orange, New Jersey and in May of 1969 Harry was Raised to sublime degree of Master Mason in Essex Lodge #7 New Jersey. The year 1976 was a changing moment in his life in which he and his family moved to Winston-Salem where he started in Leggs/Hanes Hosiery sales department, later moving to Director of Sales for Lerin Cosmetics. Harry then took a position which eventually would define his career. As Sr Vice President of Sales for Trans World Marketing, he revolutionized the point-of-sale industry. He was widely regarded as an industry leader and a pioneer in this arena. After retiring from Trans World, Harry embarked on his second career, by contributing to revitalization of downtown Winston-Salem as chairman of the AFAS Group, a non-profit group benefiting community local artists. His contributions to not only the Winston-Salem Arts District, but to the many local businesses and restaurants, earned him and the AFAS group the key to the city. His impact on the city of Winston-Salem is immeasurable.

Harry was loved, respected and will be missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to be around him. His advice, wit, and art of storytelling was infectious to all that had the honor of listening to him. He lived his life with passion, zeal and vigor. Harry was truly a remarkable man, and his impact upon the people he touched, made this part of the world a better place.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife and true partner in life Julie Huneycutt Knabb, his son and daughter-in-law Laura and Jeffrey Knabb, his daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and John Jackson, his sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Barry Rosenbaum, as well as his grandchildren Lillian and Allyson Knabb, Peighton Jackson and Zachary Grube.

There will be a celebration of life service for Harry on Friday, July 12 at the Masonic Center 4537 Country Club Rd. Winston-Salem NC 27104. Service will begin at 5:00. The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the care of the AFAS Group. 630 N. Liberty St, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or through the website www.theafasgroup.com.
