Harry Lee Yeatts

Harry Lee Yeatts passed away peacefully at his home on September 13. He was born on January 14, 1946. He was placed in foster care and lovingly raised by Fred and Ann Wallace of Danville, Virginia.

Harry attended Brosville High School. In 1965, at the age of 18, he left home and moved to Winston-Salem, where he began a career with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He started by sweeping floors and, through hard work, dedication, and determination, worked his way up to become a Chief Repair Maintenance Engineer. After 35 years of service, Harry retired at the age of 55.

Harry was a man of strong Baptist faith and attended Believer's Baptist Church in Walkertown.

Harry enjoyed many things in life, including golf, car racing, hunting, camping, and four-wheeling in West Virginia with his many friends. But his greatest passion was working on old cars. He had a special talent for restoring and building them, and his love for cars was evident to everyone who knew him.

One of Harry's proudest accomplishments was building a 1965 Corvette with his son Sandy. The Corvette won numerous trophy awards and became his pride and joy. As Harry would say, that car was his baby.

Harry was also known for his generosity and willingness to help others. He had a heart for his friends, and his shop was often a gathering place—almost like Grand Central Station. As one car went out, another would pull in. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge, lending a helping hand, and simply spending time with the people he cared about.

Harry will be deeply missed by his loving wife and high school sweetheart of 23 years, Sylvia Kirks Yeatts; his son, Harry Sanford Yeatts (Deena); his daughter, Regina Hindle (Donald); his stepson, Ricky Toler; and his stepdaughter, Tiffany Voyles (Ryan). He also leaves behind three grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and one brother, Michael Pressley (Sarah).

Harry leaves behind a lifetime of memories and the love of his family and many friends. His kindness, sense of humor, generosity, and passion for old cars will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Though he may no longer be working in his shop or behind the wheel of his beloved Corvette, Harry's memory will continue to live on in every life he touched and every story shared about him.

The family would like to extend the utmost gratitude to all of Harry’s medical care team and Mountain Valley Hospice for all of the personal care that was given.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday, September 18, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Don McGee officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
