Mr. Harvey “Ray” Tuttle, 78, of Clemmons, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Ray was born in Forsyth County on May 2, 1947, to the late Harvey McKinley Tuttle and Ruby Victoria Hauser Tuttle. He graduated from UNC Charlotte with a bachelor’s degree and immediately went to work with the Winston-Salem Police Department. Ray was affectionately known as “Chief” by his fellow officers and spent 30 years serving his community, rising to the rank of Assistant Chief before a well-earned retirement. Ray was a faithful member of Muddy Creek Church of Christ in Clemmons where he served in various capacities including Deacon. He had a love for antique and classic cars and a passion for horses. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann Linville Tuttle. He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Tuttle Mize; grandson, Colton Ray Mize; very special friend and companion in his final days, Margo Evans Cooper; and numerous other loving relatives. Ray had many hobbies and interests, but nothing compared to being a husband, father, and especially a grandfather to Colton. A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at Westlawn Gardens of Memory open air mausoleum chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the American Bladder Cancer Society. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Tuttle.
