Hazel Ray Bumgarner

Mrs. Hazel Ray Bumgarner, 99, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Arbor Acres. She was born August 20, 1913 in Surry County to Thomas and Mamie Johnson Correll. Mrs. Bumgarner was a member of Griffith Baptist Church. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She was a very social person. She was also and foremost a loving wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Clyde Bumgarner; a sister, Edwina Shore; and a brother, Homer Correll. Surviving are one son, Jack R. Weaver of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Andra Horvath of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Melinda Knight of Columbia, SC; three great grandchildren, Corinne Knight, Ellen Knight and Breanna Hall; and one sister, Juanita Pinnix of Hamptonville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Griffith Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
