Mrs. Hazel Mae Hauser Riddle of Advance, 102, peacefully passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. She was born June 18, 1914 in Davie County to Settle and Maudie King Hauser. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Everette ""Toots"" Riddle, a daughter and son-in-law Joann and Harvey Pilcher, three sisters Pansy Allen, Ruby McBride and Pauline Smith, a brother Gene Hauser and a great-grandson Brandon Ashley. She is survived by a daughter Faye (Ron) Morgan of Advance and a son Randy (Ann Marie) Riddle of Huntersville, 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous loved nieces and nephews. As one of Davie County's oldest residents, Hazel ""Nannie"" spent part of her early childhood in Marshalltown, Iowa returning to NC where she graduated as valedictorian of Farmington School. Although she lived in Maryland with her young family during WWII, the majority of her life was spent on Yadkin Valley Road, later retiring from A&P Grocery to then continue a full and active life doing the things she loved best. Among those were enjoying grandchildren and her Yadkin Valley Church family where for years she was their oldest active member. As of her 101st Christmas she was still treating loved ones to her delicious pound cakes. Her family is fortunate to have many of her beautiful crocheted pieces, not only to remember her by but to pass on to future generations. She was an avid fan of Tarheel basketball and NASCAR's Petty family. She was always able - and enjoyed - debating current and sporting events. While there is much grief with the loss of Nannie, it has been a blessing having her among us for so many years. The family wishes to thank the many caregivers and friends who, over the years, visited, called and sent cards showing their love and support. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Yadkin Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Craddock officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Yadkin Valley Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
