WINSTON-SALEM -- Mrs. Helen Marie ""Randy"" Danner, 83, died Friday, December 6, 2013 at Oak Forest Health Center. Helen was born on September 23, 1930, in Texas to the late John and S.T. Wright Randolph. Randy's caring personality led her to the field of nursing but she gave up her career in healthcare to become a proud and dedicated US Air Force wife and mother. Randy and their three children followed Larry to duty stations around the world, including various bases in the USA, Philippines, England and Guam. She had a special interest in pyramids and castles and enjoyed their travels to tour as many as possible. Randy volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader, both internationally and locally, and was a life-time member of the Forsyth Ladies Lioness Club, of which she served in many capacities including president. In addition to her parents, Randy was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Gay Danner; two brothers, Johnnie and Joe Randolph; and an infant sister, Marjorie Randolph. Surviving are her husband, Larry E. Danner of the home; two daughters, Charlotte Griffiths (husband, Mark) and Marilyn Madison (husband, Dan); a son, James Danner (wife, Stephanie) of Hamptonville; six grandchildren, Megan Danner, Erik and Logan Griffiths, Carey Bonvegna (husband, Dominic), Daniel and Barrett Madison; one great grandchild, Madison Bonvegna; one brother, William Randolph (wife, Ayako) of Llano, TX; two sisters, Clara Grimes (husband, Terry) of May, TX and Gearline Thompson of Killeen TX; three nephews, Rick House, Richard Thompson and Alan Randolph; and many great nieces and great nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Steve Craver officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Ln, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
