Helen Mae Whitlock Hester

Helen Mae Whitlock Hester, 90, of Mocksville, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Hester was born August 2, 1921 in Forsyth County to John Anderson and Haley Myers Whitlock. She was a very special lady and was loved by everyone that knew her. She was a member of Cedardale Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Hester, sisters, Maggie Hester, Dora Sheets, Blanche Vestal, Janice Edwards and Ruby Jones; brothers, Thomas Anderson Whitlock and Luther Holder. Surviving to cherish the memory of her life are two daughters, Mae (Bill) Smith of Mocksville and Colleen Binkley of the home; a stepdaughter, Nellie Langston of Freemont; a sister, Ruth Davis of Mocksville and a brother, Stacy (Nelda) Brown of Pinnacle; four loving grandchildren, Karen (Roger) Romito of Clayton, Sandra Lewis of Massachusetts, Tommy (Denise) Binkley and Michael (Jody) Binkley of Mooresville; ten precious great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and three special step granddaughters, Brenda (Kenneth) James and Becky Chappell of Clemmons and Sue (Craig) Jordan of Clinton; two loving devoted step grandsons, Jerry (Judy) Hester of Clemmons and Gene (Judy) Kiger of Tennessee and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance with Rev. Gene Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
