Helen Elizabeth Lewis Lawson

Helen Elizabeth Lewis Lawson, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. She was born in the town of Walnut, in Madison County, on December 14, 1932, to the late Lloyd Lewis and Alpha Gosnell Lewis. Helen was a creative and free spirit. She had many hobbies, most of which were spent enjoying the outdoors. You could always find her tending to her garden in the warm weather, with an abundance of flowers and sitting on her side porch, enjoying the sunshine. She also enjoyed making jewelry and other crafts, in addition to painting. Helen was happiest when she was traveling and making new memories, specifically at the beach, laying on the sand and enjoying the ambiance of the waves and sunshine. She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her. 

In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, David Lee Lawson, who left this world on June 18, 2018. She is also preceded in death by her daughters, Anne Lawson, and Janice Lee; as well as a brother, Floyd Lewis. 

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Stephen Lee Lawson (Tina) of Winston-Salem, Cheryl Roig (Richard) of Tryon, and Nancy Carroll (Scott) of Tryon; 11 grandchildren, Chris Lawson, Jeffrey Stephen Lawson, Evette Meraz, Brandon Carroll, Justin Carroll, Sienna Phillips, Amber Lawson, William Lawson, Daniel Everette, Robbie Lee, and Cynthia Behnke; great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many other loved extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory.
