Helen Pluff Grammy" Lingerfelt

Mrs. Helen Pluff ""Grammy"" Lingerfelt, 103, of Mooresville, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. She was born in New York on May 22, 1905. Helen loved dancing and shopping. She enjoyed being around lots of people and was a huge NASCAR fan. She was Michael Waltrip's oldest fan. She loved to help people and touched the lives of many with her big heart including her family who she loved very much. She was greatly loved in return. She and her first husband, Albert Pluff had a huge farm and raised and sold produce at the markets in New York. In her later years she owned and operated a truck stop restaurant in Florida and retired in 1960. She had a very positive outlook on life. Helen was the oldest of 10 children. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Albert Pluff; her second husband, Charles Lingerfelt; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Phillips of Florida; 1 granddaughter, Helen Reece and her husband Mike of Lake Norman; 2 grandsons, Dail Buchanan of Florida and Boyd Phillips and his wife Angie of Florida; 1 great granddaughter, April Henley of Lake Norman and 2 step grandsons, Mike Reece, Jr. and Randy Reece and their families She is also survived by 2 sisters, Bertha Lancuski and Mickey Cooley. A funeral Service will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Williamson Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrea Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 - 5 PM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Make a Wish Foundation, Johnston Building, 2125 Tryon Street, Suite 1080, Charlotte, NC 28281.
