KERNERSVILLE – Helen Arlene Mason, 86, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. Helen was born on November 12, 1939, in Cherokee County, NC, to the late Samuel Henry and Maebell Rebecca Roberson. Helen was devoted to serving the Lord. She was a long-time member and Children’s Sunday School Teacher at Enon Baptist Church in East Bend. In her later years she attended Triad Baptist Church in Kernersville. Helen will not only be remembered as a devoted wife, but a mother who stood firm in her beliefs and guided her daughters and grandchildren with her kindness, understanding, and love. Helen met her husband and high school sweetheart, Bill, when they were teenagers at Shoal Creek Township and spent over 67 wonderful years together. Helen enjoyed spending her free time reading, sewing, journaling, creating photo albums, and watching Westerns and Hallmark movies. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and close friends. Helen will be missed incredibly by those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her, two daughters: Denise Easton (Mike), Tricia Mason; four grandchildren: Brandon Cheeks (Ashley), Benjamin Easton (Erika), Allyson Pearson (Dylan), and Christina Allgood (Seth); seven great-grandchildren: Mallon Cheeks, Samuel Cheeks, Oaklei Cheeks, Kinsley Easton, Hayden Easton, Ayden Pearson, and Liam Allgood; two sisters: Mildred Roberson, and Irene Johnson; and two nephews: Donald Johnson, and John Johnson. Survivors also include long-time family friend, Beck Holt, whom Helen lovingly considered her third daughter.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Joel Gilchrist officiating. A burial will follow at Enon Baptist Church in East Bend, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am before the service at the funeral home.
Special thanks to Helen’s daily caregiver, Arlene Stevens and Hospice nurses: Lisa, and Charisse.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trellis Supportive Care or a charity of your choice in honor of Helen.
