Helen Bates Minton

Helen Bates Minton, 91, passed away on January 8, 2026, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Helen was born on April 12, 1934, to Lottie Everhart Bates and Roy Henry Bates in Forsyth County. She was devoted to her home and family. This prepared her for her role as a daycare provider. Caring for the babies brought her joy and comfort after her husband passed away.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Wayburn Minton; daughter, Teresa M. Schaefer; sisters, Margaret Wiles, Lucille McAllister, Myrtle Hilderbrand, Thelma Brown, Louise Pitanco, and Dorothy Owen; and brothers, Roy H. Bates and L.C. Bates.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Minton; granddaughters, Jaymi Schaefer and Traci Schaefer; son-in-law, Randy Schaefer; extended family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with Rev. Chris Langham officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00-6:00 PM, Tuesday evening at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
