Mrs. Helen Byerly Walser, 92, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2017 surrounded by her beloved family.
Helen was born September 1, 1924 in Davidson County to Noah and Etta Byerly. She was a longtime member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. Helen loved to sew and especially enjoyed cooking for her family. She always made sure that everyone had had a chance to eat before she took care of herself. Helen will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Murphy Walser, son, Donald Walser, and siblings, Ralph, Lewis, Gaynell, Bruce, and Elsie.
Helen is survived by her children, Ruby Leonard (Bernard), Gayle Moorefield, Joe Walser, and Ralph Walser; grandchildren, Melinda Leonard, Eddie Moorefield (Saundra), Paula Booze (Michael), Michael Walser (Dawn), Tracy Walser, Rodney Walser, and Christy Musgrave (Brian); great-grandchildren, Whitney Moorefield, Trevor Musgrave, Molly Walser, Cody Musgrave, Macy Walser, Kristian McKay, and Reid Daniels; great-great-grandchild, Brayden Maner; and sisters, Mary Walser and Paige Bailey.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11 am at Good Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Fulk officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, August 28, 2017 from 6 - 8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
