Henry Francis Cardosa, 86, of Kernersville, NC passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at his home. He was born to the late Henry Anthony Cardose and Anna Marcinage Cardosa on July 18, 1940, in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
Henry graduated from Mount Carmel High School. He went on to join the Navy at 17 years old and proudly served for 3 ½ years. Henry received an associate’s in science and avionics maintenance. In 1963 he married the love of his life, Sally. Henry and Sally happily raised their three girls together until her passing in 2001.
Henry had many hobbies such as reading, yard work, being outdoors, and riding his precious lawnmower. He was a devoted Catholic. Henry was 28 years sober and served as a sponsor over the years for many individuals in need, always answering every call. He could always be found giving his wisdom and sharing a laugh. Henry enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sally Wilson Cardosa; and siblings, Mary, Joe, Tootie, Julie, Kathleen, and Toni.
He was survived by his beloved daughters, Cathy Sensing (Roger), Debbie Lee (Tim), and Rebecca “Becky” Cardosa Russell; grandchildren, Susan Sensing, Sandra Walker, Stacy Sensing, Shawn Lee (Elliott), Mikayla Crouch (Ryan), and Tommy Russell; 9 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; brothers, Peter Cardosa, and John Michael Cardosa; and life partner, Sue Weinheimer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00pm on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Father Jason Christian will celebrant the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. The burial will follow the Mass at Mt. Gur Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in honor of Henry to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
