It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Henry Pervis Jackson, 86, on Saturday, July 20, 2024. He was born in Surry County on March 13, 1938, to the late Joseph Leander and Nevada Amanda Jackson. Henry served in the U.S. Army Reserves and retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 35 years of service. He was a member of Brookstown United Methodist Church. He was a cherished husband, a devoted father, a caring brother and a beloved PawPaw. Throughout the years he touched the lives of many with his kindness, his painting and woodworking craftmanship, as well as his locksmithing skills. Preceding him in death were two grandchildren, Austin and Savannah Thomas; four sisters, Ruthie Davis, Wilda Long, Wanda Hardy, and Betty Davis; and a brother, Billy Joe Jackson. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Carol Hayes Jackson; two children, Joseph Lee Jackson (Angie) of Wilmington and Ellen Jackson Thomas (Jeff) of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Lee Jackson, Jack Thomas, and Max Thomas; brother, Bernard Jackson of State Road; sister, Sandra Wilhelm (Howard) of State Road; and many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Brookstown United Methodist Church withThe Reverend James T. “Chip” Webb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Brookstown United Methodist Church, Attn: The Building Fund, 6274 Yadkinville Rd. Pfafftown, NC 27040.
