Henry Long

Mr. Henry E.J. Long passed away Sunday morning, July 8, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County on July 4, 1927 to the late Esker John Long and Eunice Waller Long. E.J. served in the United States Air Force in Germany as a Postal Clerk. He was a member of the Salem Lodge 289. E.J. enjoyed all sports and loved his grandchild and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Eugene Long; sister Becky Long; and niece Denise Hayden. E.J. is survived by his wife Frances Long; son Steve Long (Nancy); daughters Ann Stephenson and Malinda Hauser; grandchild Michael Long (Nikki); great grandchildren Kolby, Kennedy, and Greyson; and two sisters Norma Long (Jimmy) and Doris Winfrey. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on July 12, 2018 in the Angel Room at Calvary Baptist Church, with visitation starting at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Pastor Al Fausch will be officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in E.J.'s memory to Calvary Baptist Church 134 S. Peace Haven Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Palliative Care unit on the 8th floor of Forsyth Medical Center and to the caregivers that cared for Dad during his illness.
