Herbert H. Cole

Psalms 116:15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints. Herbert Cole went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 31, 2012 at KBR Hospice Home. Born to Charlie Thomas Cole and Pina Mae Fulk Cole in Stokes County on May 28, 1917. He was one of 10 children. Predeceasing him was a wife of 62 years, Sadie Prim Cole, and brothers, Vester, Thomas, Jessie, Jacob, Esau, Curtis and Willie Cole, and one sister, Georgia Walser and a son-in-law, Mallonee King. He is survived by a sister, Earline Smith, and four sisters in law, Ruby, Vera, and Jeanette Cole and Peggy (Herman) Duggins. He is also survived by five sons. Grady (Judy) of Rural Hall, Billie (Brenda) of Hampton, VA, Don (Sue) of Mocksville, Danny of Rural Hall, Dale (Page) of Winston Salem, and a daughter Wilma King of Winston Salem. He has 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren, making him proud of having 5 generations. He had numerous devoted friends across the globe that were dear to his heart and too many special friends to name. He retired from RJ Reynolds, but was a carpenter by trade. He loved working with his hands and completed many projects around Winston Salem. Herbert spent much of his later years volunteering at Samaritan Ministries Soup Kitchen, always bringing a smile and cheerful attitude. Herbert was also a faithful visitor to area nursing homes. He was a deacon at Shallowford Baptist Church for 40 years. Many people were proud to call Herbert their friend, but not as proud as his children were to call him their father. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012 at Shallowford Baptist Church in Pfafftown with Pastor Bill James and Pastor Dale Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in Yadkin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the employees of KBR Hospice House. 'Ain't God gud'. Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com.
