Mr. Herbert Filmore Cook, Jr., 87, passed away June 1, 2018 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 3, 1930 to the late Hebert Filmore Cook, Sr. and Thelma Harris Cook. Herbert served in the United States Army at age 17 and spent five years as a Military Police during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service, he became an owner of H & A Restaurant, (later known as Lums). In addition, he retired from R.J. Reynolds with 38 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Marie Cook; one son, Frankie Lynn Cook, Sr.; one sister, Eloise Allison and husband, Dewey Allison. Herbert is survived by one son, Gregory Rock Cook; one grandson, Frankie Lynn Cook, Jr.; and one niece, Kay Allison. A graveside service will be conducted 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. Military honors will be observed. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 noon. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
