Herbert Thomas “Tom” Veale Jr., age 79, passed away peacefully at Indigo Carolina Forest in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on Friday, December 12, 2025.
He was born July 29, 1946, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to the late Herbert Thomas Veale, Sr. and Anne Rose Sager Veale.
Tom served his country in the United States Air Force as a Chaplain’s Assistant for 4 years and later returned to his home state of Pennsylvania where he attended Shippensburg University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business. Not long after finding employment with AMP Incorporated (now Tyco Electronics), he was called to relocate with his growing family to Kernersville, North Carolina. Dedicated to his career and enjoying the milder climate, Tom decided to call Kernersville home for 40 years.
Sharing his interests with his daughters, Tom found joy in fishing on the weekends, visiting the NC mountains in the summer, watching basketball and football games, and thrifting.
Tom is survived by his ex-wife Marla Veale and their two children Tarah Jones (Kevin) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Laura Martinez (Marco) of Middletown, RI; four grandchildren, Makayla Jones, Emma Jones, Kevin Michael Jones, Jr., and Senna Martinez; one sister, Linda Bendock (Richard) of Nesquehoning, PA; and one nephew and niece, Bryan Bendock and Nicole Bendock.
Tom’s stories, advice, and corny jokes will be remembered and cherished by his close friend, Calvin Gates, and all who knew him. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, 530 Dobson Street. Officiating the service is Francis Smith. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s honor can be made to Air Force Aid Society.
