Hideko Tsuruta

Mrs. Hideko Marumoto Tsuruta, 85, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning January 1, 2019. She was born in Gifu, Japan, on January 3, 1933, to the late Ryoichi and Fujie Marumoto. This mother and grandmother was the cornerstone of the family that was a free spirit who lived life fearlessly, independently and completely. She loved sunny days, scenic drives, lunch with friends, and exercising. She was a creative person that showcased her talents through her traditional Japanese cooking, quilting, crafting, and gardening. She was an avid animal lover that was always in the company of a furry companion and loved watching the wildlife in her back yard. Her life was filled with laughter and smiles that affected all that knew her and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother. She is survived by her husband, Kuniaki Tsuruta; one daughter, Kaoru Bray (Mike) of Winston-Salem; two sons, Jun Tsuruta (Kim, formerly of Concord) of San Antonio TX, and Kenneth Tsuruta of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Lauren Mayhew (Kevin) of Pawleys Island, SC, and Kinsey Tsuruta of Newberg, OR. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Doug Klein officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In honor of her free spirit and love of outdoors, casual attire is allowed.
