Horace Holsclaw

Kernersville- Horace Edward Holsclaw, 82, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 22, 2018, in his home in Kernersville, NC. Horace was born on May 3, 1936 in Hendersonville, NC to father, Carl Millard Holsclaw and mother, Martha Blazer Holsclaw. Horace grew up in Hudson, NC and attended high school there. He was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1957. After his military service, he was employed by Blue Bell, a clothing manufacturer in Lenoir, NC, for over twenty-five years. While there, he worked as a sewing machine mechanic and, after being transferred to the company's Greensboro division, ultimately rose to the position of Shop Maintenance Supervisor. After working for Blue Bell, he was also employed by Norvell Tent Manufacturing Company, in Greensboro, NC, and ACME Sample in High Point, NC. Horace was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Holsclaw and Carl Holsclaw, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Shirley King Holsclaw, of Kernersville, NC; his son, Michael Edward Holsclaw, of Lenoir, NC; and by a sister, Mrs. Viola Michaels, of Lenoir, NC. A memorial service for Horace will be planned at a later date. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
