Mr. Howard Odell Yow, 84, of Lewisville passed away on December 1st, 2014 with his family by his side. Mr. Yow was born January 5, 1930 in Forsyth County to the late Pete and Sudie Yow. Odell served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant from 1952 to 1954. After returning from Germany, he returned to work at L.A. Reynolds and was employed there until he went to work for the City of Winston-Salem where he retired from in 1994. Odell was a faithful member of Sharon United Methodist Church in Lewisville. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jackson Yow, brother Delmar G. Yow, and sister Mary Y. Conrad. He is survived by daughters Pamela Atkins and husband Bobby, Lisa Shirley, and honoree daughter Tammy Hagan; grandchildren Jason Atkins, Ashley Brown and husband Adam, Christopher Shirley (Brittany Reid), Ellen Shirley (Jose Moreno) and great-grandson Noah; sisters Virginia Smith and Barbara Grubbs. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Sharon United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel.
