Huey "Clelia" McKinney

Huey Clelia McKinney, “Ms. C,” passed away on October 4, 2024. She was born November 12, 1935, in Smithville, Arkansas. She was the youngest daughter of George and Mary Wildrick.

She was a certified nurse’s aide and loved her patients. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family. She was a devout Christian. 

Huey was preceded in death by her husband, E. K. “Buddy” McKinney; daughters, Mary and Sherry; and grandson, Jimmy Lindquist.

She is survived by six daughters, Clelia Parnell, Alice Geyer, Linda Barnes, Daisy Wyco, Henrietta McKinney Blackmon, and Jeannie Lindquist; sons-in-law, Steve Blackmon and Michael Wyco; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Abuna Moore; and niece, Charlotte Weller.

The family is celebrating her life in a memorial service on October 6, 2024, at 10:30 am. It will be part of the Sunday service at Open Door Baptist Church, 3130 Burke Mill Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.

Her express wish was for no flowers. Instead, please make a donation in her honor to the youth group at Open Door Baptist Church.

Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
