Mrs. Hye Suk "Jai" Stanley, 80, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 10, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Stanley was born February 26, 1938 in Seoul and grew up in war-torn Korea, where she was orphaned at an early age. In 1971, she married the love of her life, CSM (Ret.) Daniel Stanley, and they blended their families together. She was a member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, Christmas decorating and cooking her native Korean food for her large family and friends. Mrs. Stanley was preceded in death by her mother in law, Isabel Stanley; son in law, Richard Pope; sisters in law, Geraldine Yahner, Evelyn Moss, and Melba Stanley; and brothers in law, Lawrence Self, Michael Moss, and Bob Stanley.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, CSM (Ret) Daniel H.P. Stanley; children; Lona Pope, Myung Honer, Kil Soo Lee and wife Sunny, Marketta Goforth and husband Richard, and Dannette Grass, grandchildren; Tim Lovell, James Honer, Joshua Haia, Sacha Adams, Alice Lee, James Lee, Daniel Grass, and Kendall Grass, great-grandchildren; Chandler Lovell, Patrick Lovell, and Nevaeh Haia, sister in law; Jean Self, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 11 AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Cook officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 6 - 8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
