Ilse Barz Wondracek

Mrs. Ilse Barz Wondracek, 97, of Bakersville passed away Friday, January 6, 2017 at her home. She was born January 23, 1919 in Ijui, Brazil to Alberto and Evelina Eltz Barz. She was a Gymnast in her early years and worked as a sales clerk in her youth. Mrs. Wondracek uprooted and came to America in her 40's where she became a legally Naturalized American Citizen. She worked as an embroiderer in Manhattan and was a prominent business owner in New York with her husband. Mrs. Wondracek was a follower of Jesus Christ. She taught Sunday school for many years and sang in the choir at Immanuel Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and made sure that her family was raised in a God-fearing atmosphere. Mrs. Wondracek loved opening her home to all and enjoyed making meals for them. Mrs. Wondracek was preceded in death by her husband, Afonso Wondracek in 1994; one sister and three brothers. She is survived by three sons, Erlo Wondracek and wife Margaret of Bakersville, Wilbur Wondracek and wife Anemarie of Marietta, GA and Mirvan Wondracek and wife Evelyn of Garner; four Grandsons, Marcus Wondracek and wife Sharon of Greer, SC, Paul Wondracek and wife Becky of Apex, Erik Wondracek of Atlanta, Ga, Douglas Wondracek and wife Tracy of Louisville, OH as well as four Grandaughters, Joyce Wenger husband Michael of Garner, Bonnie Fagley husband Mark of Garner, Monica Rempel , husband Jonathon of Langley, BC and Kristin Chappell husband Christopher of Ackworth, Ga. She is also survived by twelve Great Grandchildren. The celebration of her life will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Rev. David White and Rev. Paul Wondracek officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
