Ina Neal Cook

Ina Neal Cook, 109, was born in Stokes County on November 18, 1904, to Ellen Chilton Neal and John Thomas Neal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garl L. Cook and her four brothers: Otis, Carl, Wallace and Walter Neal and one sister, Nannie Neal. Also, two sons, James Ray Cook and T. Edsel Cooke. A granddaughter, Kathy Vogler Manning and a great-granddaughter, Kristin Blair Charles. Survivors include two daughters: Kathleen Satterfield and Sue (Frank) Vogler, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Cook, all of Winston-Salem, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Mrs. Cook was the oldest member of Westfield Friends Meeting church in Pilot Mountain, NC. Actually, she had already made arrangements to attend the church reunion next month. She attended Waughtown Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for as long as her health permitted, and she was a member of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class. Over the past years Ina was a resident of Homestead Hills Assisted Living and the Danby House. She was thrilled when she won at ""Bingo"". She loved visitors and always said, ""Come back when you can"". Many ""Ina"" stories are told throughout the community. She was the pride and joy of our family. Her laugh was contagious, and she loved telling a good story. She attributed her long life to a ""good dip of snuff"" and hard work. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at 3:00pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Eddie Brackett will officiate. Memorials may be made to Westfield Friends Meeting, 3161 Old Westfield Rd., Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 or to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. A special thank you to Debra, Jen, Mary, Vickey and Tracy from Danby House for their extra touch of love and care for our precious mother and grandmother.
