Mrs. Ina Rose Jones Seagraves, 92, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. She was born in Forsyth County on March 18, 1926 to Rowan A. Jones and Bertha Miller Jones. Ina was a lifelong member of Hopewell Moravian Church. She loved to work in her garden and spend time outside. Ina loved the sun and enjoyed spending time around the water. In her earlier years, she was a very good cook and she loved to travel with her husband, Carl, and other family members. Ina was part of a highly successful cooking group who gathered to make renowned chicken pies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Carl Seagraves; daughter, Carlotta Seagraves Medford; granddaughter, Amy Lynne Medford; brothers, Lester Jones and George Jones; and sisters, Helen Jones Comer, Mildred Jones Boyter, Doris Jones Guy, and Elsie Jones Cude. Surviving are her son-in-law, Jessie Medford; granddaughter, Kara Medford Hackney (Martin) of Tallahassee, Florida; great-granddaughter, Caroline Reese Hackney of Tallahassee, Florida; sister, Elma Hege (Otis); brothers, Sam Jones (Lola) and Max Jones (Carol); sisters-in-law, Lucy Robertson and Hilda Jones; and nieces and nephews, David Boyter (Angie), Danny Boyter, Donald Comer (Rose), Steve Comer (Loretta), Mary Comer, Terri Jones, Ted Jones, Bruce Guy (Annette), Keith Guy (Janet), Lynn Grubbs, Susan Hutchins (Calvin), Cindy Spear (Steve), Annette Pleasants (Lewis), Mike Jones (Tricia), Pam Grubb (Chuck), Ryan Weir, Colbert Seagraves, Lisa Canter (James), Frank Robertson (Kate), and Janis Simpson. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Hopewell Moravian Church with Rev. Walter Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in the church graveyard. A fellowship of family will follow the services at the church. Mrs. Seagraves will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Moravian Church Quilters at 701 Hopewell Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
