Ina Jarvis Whittington

Mrs. Ina Levina Jarvis Whittington, 88, passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Wilkes County, the daughter of the late Marcus and Rosa Jarvis. Mrs. Whittington was a God-fearing woman and a dedicated member of Woodland Baptist Church. She was a cosmetologist for some time and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. as a machine operator at the Tobaccoville plant. Mrs. Whittington will be remembered as a strong-willed, protective, hardworking lady who loved her family deeply and cared about their salvation. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Brian Whittington, Sr., a grandson, Jeffrey Brian Whittington, Jr., two sisters and a brother. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, John Bruce Whittington; two sons, Keith Whittington (Heidi) and Gregory Whittington (Teresa); five grandchildren, April Whittington, Stephanie Whittington, Amanda Whittington, William Whittington and Nicholas Whittington; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; seven sisters; three brothers; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem with Pastor Tim Gammons officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Woodland Baptist Church, 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road., Winston-Salem, NC 27106. The family would like to express our gratitude to Dr. Franklin Watkins for the many years of amazing medical care he provided Ina, along with the sweet friendship.  And a special thank you to Amanda Durham, Malorie Dudley, Heidi Cook and Jan Ruff whose hours of daily care gave Ina comfort, encouragement, music, and laughter.
